Senior Product Engineer

Position Responsibilities: Compile design requirements using ZF internal specifications and design guidelines, customer product specifications, load information, damping force requirements, and other external specifications and requirements. Develop concept designs based on design requirements. Perform engineering analysis using ZF proprietary calculation tools for length calculation, tolerance stack-ups, basic strength calculations, as well as external FEA calculations when needed. Synthesize design requirements for sub components that need to be designed by ZF CoC Design Group. Direct the release and maintenance of end-item and sub-assembly drawings and bills of material (BOMs). Identify special product characteristics (critical, significant, pass-through, process). Support development of Product Design FMEA. Manage building of prototype samples. Ensure Product Design meets internal design standards and is production feasible by reviewing the design with other departments (CoC, Process Engineering, Quality, etc.). Mature design throughout program development phase. Create and maintain Design Verification and Production Validation plans and manage their execution. Issue test requests, coordinate test activities and issue final test reports based on project timing. Work with customers, suppliers, and internal departments such as sales, program management, purchasing, and quality, throughout the development phase of the program. Ensure compliance with Quality Management procedures. Direct the work of Design Engineers Provide training and act as technical resource for Design Engineers. Contribute to business process improvement activities. Lead resolution of technical issues. Essential Skills and Experience: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering 7-8+ years of experience leading engineering product design/development, with Chassis Technology related Products Proficient with Microsoft Office software Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management Strong problem solving and analytical skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Able to work independently manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated) English language competency Ability/willingness to travel domestic or international (up to 25%) Preferred Skills and Experience: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Product engineering experience specific to automotive dampers Knowledge of 5S and Six Sigma problem-solving methodology TS16949 awareness training Spanish and/or German Language Skills. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
