Church Communication Associate PURPOSE:
To inform, engage, empower and encourage the congregation and community and to lead marketing efforts through various media platforms.
STRUCTURE:
Hourly, non-exempt, part-time, 4 days per week, 5 hours per day ACCOUNTABILITY:
To the Session through the Senior Pastor - Head of Staff, reporting directly to the Church Administrator OTHER RELATIONSHIPS:
Church staff, all committees, volunteers and members of FPC PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
Serve as primary person for telephone-based communication in concert with the Church Administrator and office volunteers to assure that each person who contacts FPC is greeted warmly and personally, directed promptly and accurately, and serviced with excellence.
Be a vital and engaging presence with walk-ins or congregational members who need direction.
Serve as primary person for marketing of congregation using social and other media.
Publicize ministry events through church resources and provide effective internal communication to staff, volunteers and the church membership (all or various segments thereof).
Act as editor of documents submitted for publication to ensure readability, clarity and proper sizing to the particular type of communication being used.
Work with pastor(s) and Connections Committee as requested to assist in developing and/or implementing a comprehensive marketing and communication plan to promote the growth of the church by the addition of new members and families.
Integrate the church website, Facebook, and other social media into a coherent marketing strategy.
Maintain, update, and continually develop a compelling church website.
Maintain video equipment for online worship, edit, and upload videos to social media, as needed.
Create print communications for staff and committees including the church directory, stewardship materials and the annual report.
Add weekly attendance to database (CCIS); make updates to member data as necessary.
Create and prepare weekly worship bulletins, church emails, funeral bulletins, fellowship hall slides, and other worship-related materials, as needed.
Back-up for Church Administrator during absences when possible.
Participate as required in weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of college-level coursework, preferably in business, communication, or graphic design Two years minimum office experience, preferably in a church Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Publisher, and Canva Web and social media-related experience Ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere Ability to be proactive in establishing interpersonal relationships Excellent interpersonal, motivational and consensus building skills Exceptional oral and written communication skills Ability to multi-task and work with both set and floating deadlines Job Type:
